Horticulturist – Garden Services & Nursery Support

Casual | 3–4 Days Per Week (Seasonal Flexibility)
Location: Bonville Nursery – Coffs Harbour Region, NSW

Bonville Nursery is seeking a skilled horticulturist to join our team with a strong focus on garden services and client maintenance, supported by nursery work when projects aren’t scheduled. This role is ideal for someone confident working independently, able to manage regular client schedules, and occasionally lead a junior team member.

We’re an environmentally minded business, focused on attracting and working with clients who share our values — planting more natives, building wildlife habitat, and creating resilient, low-input gardens that thrive in our region. This is not a turf or lawn care role; instead, you’ll be working with plants, landscapes, and small garden projects that contribute to lasting, climate-friendly outcomes.

About the Role

Garden Services

  • Mondays: Dedicated garden maintenance days working as part of the team in client gardens.

  • Wednesdays & Thursdays: Focus on ad hoc landscaping projects and scheduled monthly client services (weeding, pruning, feeding, mulching, planting, soil improvement, pest & disease management, small landscape projects such as pathways, ponds, edging, and retaining walls under 600mm).

    • If no garden/landscape jobs are scheduled, you’ll spend the day in the nursery supporting the team.

Nursery Support

  • Tuesdays: Half-day in the nursery assisting with plant care and stock.

  • Plant propagation, watering, fertilising, soil work, and maintaining nursery presentation.

  • Assisting customers with plant selection, advice, and sales.

Flexibility Across Both Areas

  • While garden services are your primary focus, you’ll support nursery operations whenever projects aren’t scheduled. This ensures stable weekly hours and gives you variety across both client gardens and the nursery environment.

Who We’re Looking For

  • A confident full trained horticulturist with strong plant knowledge and hands-on maintenance experience.

  • Ability to work autonomously in client gardens and self-manage small landscape projects.

  • Reliable, organised, and environmentally minded in your approach.

  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team (including supporting/leading a junior staff member).

  • Physically fit and motivated, with good communication skills and customer service ability.

Pay & Details

  • Type: Casual, 3–4 days per week (seasonal variation may apply)

  • Pay: Above Award (Nursery Award [MA000033]), commensurate with experience

  • Location: Coffs Harbour & surrounds

  • Start: Immediate for the right candidate

Why Join Us?

At Bonville Nursery, we’re not just about selling plants — we’re about building lasting relationships with clients who share our values. We believe in more natives, more habitat, and more resilient gardens for the Coffs Coast.

You’ll be part of a passionate, growing business where your work directly contributes to this vision. This role offers a balance of outdoor garden services and nursery support, ensuring every week brings variety, growth, and the chance to create thriving gardens that reflect what we stand for.
