A Native Cottage Garden, Reimagined for the Subtropics

Zoe and Jacs loved their previous native garden in VIC and when they had an opportunity to reimagine the same vibe for their new build in subtropical Sawtell they knew to come and chat to us. After previous failed designs the pair booked an at home consult and we developed a clear plant palette and layout to bring their native dreams to life. We now work closely with budding gardener Zoe in helping to mould and shape their fledgling garden into it’s full potential.

  • A tailored native vision — developed a simple, beautiful native cottage garden designed specifically for the local subtropical climate.

  • Climate-smart planting — translated the client’s love of temperate and cool-climate plants into a thriving subtropical palette.

  • Clay-soil specialists — selected hardy native shrubs and plants suited to challenging clay conditions.

  • Designed with purpose — layered planting to create privacy, fill space and reduce ongoing weeding.

  • Wildlife-friendly — incorporated plants that invite birds, pollinators and local wildlife into the garden.

  • Collaborative design — worked closely with Zoe create confident, cohesive and highly personal native garden.

  • The result — a lush, low-maintenance native cottage garden that feels abundant, natural and perfectly at home in its subtropical setting.
