Tired Lawn to Living Meadow & Parkland In Bellingen
Brief: Kerry & Chris wanted to find a way to simplify their garden, create more opportunities for birds to visit and reduce the need to mow their lawn and care for their temperamental rose garden. Kerry & Chris loved their front meadow garden so much they got us back to help make their backyard more functional and filled with a bird friendly parkland design.
Native meadow transformation — replaced the tired front lawn and rose garden with a thriving, habitat-friendly native meadow focussing on insect and bird loving flowers and grasses.
Low-maintenance planting — Meadow gardens can be notoriously high maintenance so we focussed on selecting native perennials that self-seed and naturally colonise, creating an evolving landscape with minimal input for replacement required.
Distinctive local flora — introduced showy natives including Banksia spinulosaand Coronidium for colour and seasonal interest.
Refined garden structure — redesigned the rear garden with defined pathways, functional surfaces and improved flow.
Layered parkland planting — established a lush understory of Prostanthera, Kunzea and dwarf Native Frangipani beneath the existing canopy.
