Hibiscus tilleaceous Rubra 175mm Pots

$17.95

Australian native hibiscus tree with large rich maroon-green foliage and bright yellow (occasionally coral) flowers. Tolerates high wind, salt soil and poor drainage.

These trees have a low broad crown, ideal for providing shade, and respond well to trimming to shape. Give them space to shine and show off.

Hibiscus tiliaceus Rubra - red cottonwood, native hibiscus

APPEARANCE : Hardy tropical tree with a broad low crown, large heart-shaped leaves and bright sunny yellow flowers. Rubra's leaves are deeply-coloured maroon and plum, especially when young.
USE IN: Ideal for hedges, screening and feature planting.
PLANTING : Plant in a full sun - partly shaded position in the garden. Tolerates most soil types including clay and salt. Withstands exposed windy sites but requires moderate watering.
CARE:Mulch and water well, prune after flowering and fertilise in spring. To maintain a neat hedge, prune regularly or leave to grow naturally as a feature tree. Protect from heavy frost.
HEIGHT & WIDTH:Up to 5m H x 3.5m W. May be clipped to desired height if used as a hedge.
